• Definitely a Must!

A delicious & very high quality establishment that is reminiscent of the authentic ramen varieties in Japan~!! The pork was very well cooked to my great delight and the generous serving of clean cabbage was also much appreciated! Overall, a very successful and rewarding takeout experience~!! Their chicken karaage is also out of this world with so much succulent meat and the sauce packet also tastes way better than soy sauce... I'm glad I finally got to try Kamakura Ramen in Hawaii & look forward to more of their original dishes!! ありがとうございます〜‼

  • Ultimate Comfort Broth

Being the loyal creamy, rich, tonkatsu ramen broth fan that I am, I seriously surprised myself at how much I LOVE Kamukura's broth. Humble in appearance (a light, thin, clear broth), it is anything but humble in flavor. The ultimate comfort broth that is so flavorful and rich, it's delicious. I love the cabbage that they pair with the broth, it's a perfect bowl of ramen. The regular size is a generous portion. Their karaage chicken is delicious, as well. The service is always polite and quick and we love being able to watch the cooks while we eat. We have been multiple times and have no intention of not coming back again very soon!

  • Craving Some Ramen

I was craving some ramen and got to try this spot located in the Ala Moana food court for the first time! The hype around their new cold noodle dish was totally legit! It was also perfect for this warm and humid weather! The noodles are actually made in Japan and brought to Hawaii! I also got to try their bbq gyoza and fried chicken - which were also delish... Definitely going to be coming back soon!

Nestled in the Corner…

I love Kamukura ramen. With 100 restaurants, this being the 100th and the first one in Hawaii.

The Original Oishi ramen's broth is consommé base, it's a light mild and a hint of sweetness from the cabbage. Similar to an old school ramen place that your grandparents use to take you to. So if you want something simple and comforting this is your bowl ... and all the pork slices are tasty and tender.

If you want a more robust flavor, you might want to consider their Tantan ramen served either Hot or Cold. And if you want it Spicy, they are releasing their New Volcano Ramen! Starting July 1,2024. Only served here in Hawaii. It reminds me of a premium spicy Kimchee Shin ramen.

Note: All of their soup base, ramen noodles, and gyoza wrappers are all from Japan. Soooo you know the quality is really good.

The ambiance is in the Lanai Food court in Ala moana, and they are nestled in the corner with a beautiful white curtain. Once you pass thru the curtains, you will be transported to Japan and met with such a friendly happy Japanese Staff.

Pro Tip: if you want a "Real" bowl and utensils, sit at the counter. I like it, it really feels like I'm back in Japan.

PS. Make sure to get the gyozas, they are so Big and Delicious.

Definitely a Must!

A hidden gem inside The Lanai food court, 2F in Ala Moana Center. I think they have the best broth and the noodles are always cooked just right.

Tired of the heavy, fatty, thick tonkotsu broth? Then try the broth here. Their broth is made of french consomme (not bones, miso, etc) and its pretty light soup. It's like having a nice light vegetable soup with noodles. Their ramen is imported directly from Japan. They take their time to make great broth, use great ingredients and present you with a consomme based ramen. It's wonderful.

Their staff is friendly and the chefs in the kitchen are working very hard. You can take your meal and eat in the food court, or you can take a seat at one of the seats/counters at their store.

Great quality ramen. Very famous in Japan (originally from Osaka) with over 70 stores. Highly recommend.

One of My Favorites Here in Honolulu

So Kamakura Ramen is here! When we were in Osaka, we said "Where is the best ramen here"? Someone yelled out KAMAKURA!!!!! Needless to say, right after that, we sought out Kamakura Ramen. I believe we ate at 2 locations - one in Osaka and one in Shibuya. I don't know if this location nails the taste of Japan; I'm assuming it's a little different due to the ingredients here, but parts of this ramen are really great.

First off, the temperature is hot. So many places, they will serve the ramen lukewarm and it's a bummer. Not here! The ramen was piping hot - very nice! Noodles were cooked perfectly - not soggy, but pretty firm. Although this may be vegetable based broth, there was a good helping of pork. I got #2 which is the most popular. I liked the amount of spice in the broth - it was there but not overpowering.

Let's put a special note about the egg. The ajitama egg was PERFECT. This is the best representation of this egg that I have found here. THIS is how it should be. Perfectly cooked and the yolk was not overcooked. It was delicious and even better than some places in Japan.

Kamakura ramen is not my most favorite when in Japan, but I think that it is one of my favorites here in Honolulu. The egg alone was wonderful and the the ramen was no slouch. I had the gyoza which was good too.
